The United Nations in Liberia comprises of 16 agencies, funds, programmes, United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) the World Bank and African Development Bank. These agencies, funds programmes along with the World Bank and African Development Bank make up the UN Country Team. To achieve its mandate, the UN Country Team established a communication group called UN Communication Group. UN Communications Group was established in 2006 with the most senior communication officer in the country serving as head; the chief of Public Information at UNMIL. The UN Communications Group comprises communications specialists and public information officers or focal points from the UN Country Team.
The United Nations in Liberia speak with One Voice on matters ranging from joint programmes, events, activities, advocacy, etc. Also, the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG) has the mandate of enhancing the visibility and raising awareness of the UN’s role and work in Liberia, both internally and externally; Supporting the Government of Liberia in achieving its national priorities, through the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and; ensuring that the UN speaks with one voice and responds to its partners in an integrated and coherent manner.
